Madurai: Madurai City Police have arrested six people, including BJP members, because they interfere with prayer meetings.
The arrest included Rajakannan, Secretary of the State of the BJP OBC wing.
According to police, a group of people including BJP members and officials agreed to a prayer meeting in the hall on the South Perumal Art Road on Sunday morning by throwing chairs.
They also verbally abuse those who participate in prayer meetings.
The group asks them to empty the hall.
The incident video was widely distributed on social media.
Southgate police registered a case under various parts of the Indian criminal code against BJP men and other people with entry accusations without permission, criminal intimidation, acting by means of promoting communal hatred and others.
On Monday, BJP members held a protest condemning the arrest.
