Noida: Six Gang members who hacked ATM and Lakh Rupee who were cheated from various banks had been arrested in Noida, police officials said on Wednesday.
Gang members, who attacked ATMs in various places in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, were arrested by officials of Special Task Force (STF) and the 20 Noida Sector Police Station.
“The gang will physically manipulate an ATM in a way that after channeling money, the machine will read the ‘decreased transaction’.
The gang will then contact the bank concerned to increase the problem with them and get the money returned,” Deputy Commissioner of the Additional Police (Noida) said Ranvijay Singh.
“The defendant was held by a Joint Team of Police Noida and Unit Noida from STF on Tuesday near Milti level parking in Sector 18 here after a tip-off,” Singh said.
Those who were arrested had been identified as Amit Shukla, Pratyush Patel, Krishna Kant Singh, Anoop Kumar Singh, Ashish and Rinu Yadav, police said.
Additional Police Supervisors (STF) Raj Kumar Mishra said the gang targeted several ATMs from various banks but they got complaints from the RBL Bank.
“They just cheat the RBL bank from at least 22.50 lakh rs and they have deactivated various other banks too,” Mishra said, with the estimated money cheated by the gang.
Fir has been put forward at the Sector 20 police station and further processes are ongoing, police said.
