Bhubaneswar: The first additional district judge court in Puri on Wednesday released six people because of the alleged involvement in the murder of the former BJD Board Member and the Jagannath Talachha Servor Temple of Jagannath Taluchha Bhagaban Mohapatra alias Guna Singhari in August 2012.
Against the background of poor levels of confidence in the state , the latest developments have made the police shame.
The source said the case weakened when the police failed to provide security to witnesses, who were reportedly hostile to the trial.
The prosecution failed to prove the charges against the defendant.
They were released due to lack of sufficient evidence.
Those who were released were Debi Prasad Subudhi, Dhoka aka Sarbeswar Apat, Bhimsen Subudhi, Harihar Subudhi, Papu Mohanty and Krushna Chandra aka Kalia Prhatihari, Defense Lawyers Bisarnit Sarangi.
The police described Dhoka and Debus as excellent accused of Chargesheet.
Dhoka allegedly shot dead singhari from close range outside Pancatusus Jagaghara, a community center for wrestlers at Harchandi Sahi on August 22, 2012.
Singhari, who is a member of the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, returned from the community center when Dhoka opened fire on him, kill him in place .
A bullet hit Singhari’s head.
In Chargesheet, the police have called Pratihari as the main conspirator.
Pratihari, who is also a servant and is a former member of the Jagannath Managing Committee, who allegedly hired bad people to eliminate Singhari.
Police said the murder motive was competition between Singhari and Prhatihari over land transactions and real estate businesses.
