Tokyo: Olympic organizers announced 16 new Covid-19 cases related to events on Wednesday but none of them were athletes.
Fresh additions took the total number of cases related to games up to 169.
This was for the first time in four days there was no Covid-19 case reported among the Olympic athletes.
Of the 16th, four is the personnel concerned, two of the media, nine contractors and one volunteer.
But, no one lives in the Olympic Village.
According to reports, two previously reported cases proved negative and removed from cumulative total.
The numbers were released a day after Tokyo reported a record of 2,848 Coronavirus infection every day.
The total number of cases in the village of Games is currently standing at 19.
The committee said 38,484 from abroad had entered Japan for the match on Monday.
Dutch tennis player Jean-Julien Rojer was the last withdrawing from his surrender after testing the positive virus.
Rojer and his double partner Wesley Koolhof, scheduled to play Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus New Zealand, pulled out of their second round match on Monday after Rojer’s positive test results.
Contingencies that have been hit by Covid-19 after landing in Tokyo include the Czech Republic, the United States, Chile, South Africa and the Netherlands among others.
