SKM asked residents to turn on the lights to honor farmers killed during protests

New Delhi: Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Wednesday called citizens and all of his constituents to turn on the ground light on Diwali on behalf of farmers who were killed during the ongoing farmer protest.
SKM, in a statement at night Diwali, said to protest farmers, the time of the celebration will arrive only when their demands will be filled with the central government.
It was said that nearly 700 farmers had died in agitation so far because of the approach of “tension, undemocratic and irrational” from the central government.
“Samyukt Kisan Morcha calls constituents and citizens in the farmer’s movement to turn on one lamp at the gods to honor farmers who have sacrificed their lives for the causes of farmers’ rights and livelihoods,” read statements.
SKM also invited people to join in protesting farmers on the Morcha website to celebrate Diwali with them, he said.
Thousands of farmers have camped in three border points – Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur – protesting three central agriculture laws since November 26, 2020.
While farmers protested have claimed that the three laws implemented last year against their interest, this center has said – This is a pro-farmer.
