Colombo: Sri Lanka has been ranked fifth of the target of the top health tourism in the world this year, tourism minister Prasnana Ranatunga said on Monday.
According to the Global Wellness Institute, Sri Lanka has ranked number four as the best health tourist destination in the world while Bali sustains a list of this year, the Xinhua news agency.
The Sri Lankan ranking institute is the main goal for spiritual healing.
Minister Ranatunga said that following the Covid-19 situation, most tourists in the world have paid more attention to their mental, spiritual and physical welfare.
He said there was a high demand for Ayurveda and traditional medicines, which had been in Sri Lanka for many years and the government of the island state worked further.
According to official statistics, following the reopening of the Bandaranaike International Airport for tourists in December 2020, more than 40,000 tourists have visited Sri Lanka with more than 13,000 arrived in September only.
