Coimbatore: Farmers here have slammed steps to shift the Tamil Nadu organic certification department from Coimbatore to Chennai.
Members of the Tamil Nadu Farmers Association, led by President S Palanisamy, filed a petition to Collectors of Coimbatore SG Sekyanan urged the state government to withdraw decisions.
“A large number of farmers in eight Western districts, including Coimbatore, will be affected if the state government advances with the decision.
Because more people turn to organic farming, the decision will harm interest in such people.
If this happens, farmers must travel to Chennai to meet officials, “said Panisamy.Tnn
