New Delhi: The upcoming tour of Sri Lanka from India is likely to see changes in the schedule.
The tour that should begin with two series tests followed by three T20i series matches can be played otherwise.
“Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has asked BCCI to play the first T20i series instead of a test match.
The Sri Lankan team will play the T20i series against Australia before coming to India.
It will be easy for them to send a team that will already be in a bubble,” said a BCCI official.
If BCCI accepts the request, it will give them more time to take calls in place for testing, given the Covid-19 situation in this country.
Until now, the T20IS scheduled to be played in Mohali, Dharamshala and Lucknow while Bengaluru and Mohali should host two tests.
For the possibility of the boundary of the virus violates bubbles, the Board decided to limit the West Indies series only two cities – Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
“BCCI wants to distribute international games as many state associations.
But Covid-19 waves have made it difficult to do so.
Limiting the series for a particular area comfortable,” the official said.
Calls on Ranji Trophy on the Fortnightthe board still take the waiting and watching policy at Ranji Trophy.
BCCI is interested in at least getting a league round from Ranji.
“It will take a month to complete the league stage but the number of Covid-19 cases has fallen drastically.
Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata seems to have passed their peaks.
We will monitor the situation for 10-14 days,” BCCI official said.
