SLC set July 8 deadlines to complete the line contract ahead of the Indian series

Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket and Cricketers are heading for further shows with the players offered only 36 hours from Tuesday to sign a controversial national contract.
SLC sources said the players returned from England on Tuesday and they would be served with July 8 deadlines to sign a contract.
Whoever fails to do so will be excluded from the selection for the house series against India starting July 13.
Both parties declared a temporary ceasefire with players agreed to sign a tourist contract to tour England last month.
The disaster tour ended with a defeat in the format and then slipped into controversy with three leading players sent back for violating Bio Bubble.
Meanwhile, desperate voters have decided to return the Bathsman of Bhukuka Rajapaksa’s left hand into the team that has deployed USD 5000 and handed it over two years suspended prohibition to violate the provisions of the contract.
Rajapaksa has been very critical of the regime of management fitness requirements for players.
Before the England tour, the players opposed the deadline for June 3 to sign a contract quoting a lack of transparency in the process.
While opposing deadlines, the players say that every time they are willing to play for the country even if the administration decides not to pay a salary because they refuse to enter the contract.
At the height of disputes and negotiations during May, the players said the remuneration proposed to players more than threefold lower than payments made for other district players in accordance with the information received from the Federation of the International Cricket Association (FICA).
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at that time announced that 24 leading players have been offered contracts under 4 categories and they have been given a deadline until June 3 to sign them.
In the categories released only six players in category A and their annual payments range from USD 70,000 to 100,000.
The Batsman, Dhananjaya de Silva attracted the highest – with all of them received USD 70-80,000.
The players then took the exception to the decision by SLC to make details of public payments from players.
They claim that SLC’s decision to make the details of the player’s public salary has affected their confidence and peace of mind.
