New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested the Hindu head of Raksha Dal Bhupinder Tomar aka Pinki Chaudhary in connection with the alleged involvement in the case of the communal sloganeering of Jantar Mantar after he surrendered at the police station dramatically.
Surrounded by around two dozen supporters, Chaudhary reached the Margir Marg police station in the middle of the song “Pinky Bhaiya Zindabad” and “Jai Shri Ram”.
Supporters raised them on their shoulders and walked towards the police station.
In the video that appeared online on Monday, Chaudhary was seen denying all the allegations of him and said that he would surrender and work with police investigations.
Chaudhary was arrested around 2:30 p.m.
Police Delhi has registered a case after the video, shows a slogan that is inappropriate to be raised against a community during protests in Mantar on August 8, circulated widely on social media.
Police have arrested eight people – Uttam Upadhyay, Ashwini Upadhyay, Preeth Singh, Deepak Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vinod Sharma, Vinit Bajpai and Sushil Tiwari – in connection with this case.
Since then, raids are being carried out in the national capital and neighboring countries to arrest Chaudhary.
In the video that appeared on Monday, he said, “I both and anyone in my organization made a mistake in Jantar Mantar.
I respect the court and will give up on August 31.
It is the right of everyone to go to court and I do the same .
All the accusations against me were wrong and unfounded.
I have devoted my life to Hinduism and Hindutva.
As long as I live, I will continue to work for my religion.
“The Delhi High Court on Friday has refused to provide temporary protection from the arrest to Chaudhary.
