Mangaluru: Official has stopped a little girl into a marriage in Kandadka from Duggaladka in Sutia.
SULLIA Development of Children and Project Officers (CDPO), Rashmi K M told Tii who acted on a tip-off that a girl from Mysuru would get married on Thursday, visiting a groom’s house on Wednesday.
“Preparation for marriage is in front of the girl’s family.
We are looking for a birth certificate or school certificate to get to know her age.
Initially, the family said that they did not carry any notes with them, and all the documents were in MySuru,” Rashmi said.
Because Muhurtam was between 9am and 10 in the morning, officials asked them to produce certificates at 9am, Thursday.
Meanwhile, they reach their colleagues in Mysore to check whether they can confirm the age of the girl.
Finally, the family agreed that the marriage would take place only when he was 18 years old.
Allegedly the girl, 17 years old, was married a 26-year-old boy, who was a relative.
“The family has provided an effort that the marriage will take place only after the girl becomes an adult.
The girl was sent back to Mysuru,” said Rashmi.
