Thiruvananthapuram: Small and medium private hospitals have been written to the central and state government to provide it with more Covid-19 vaccines to distribute them in rural areas.
The association of quality private medical practitioners (QPMPA), a small and medium-sized hospital association in the state, has accused that the current vaccine is only supplied to large hospitals and corporations in urban areas.
In his letter to the Minister of Health and Trade Unions, QPMPA has claimed that only small and medium hospitals meet the needs of people in rural areas.

C c Atoobacker, the President of State, QPMPA said that while 7,34,100 doses of covishield and 32,020 covaxin doses were given to private hospitals in the state, 2,66,617 doses of covishield and 28,500 kovaksin doses remained underutilized.
“The reason for such underutilization is to be supplied to a corporate hospital and large in urban areas,” said Dr.
Aboobacker, who added that more vaccine demand in rural areas.
There are no corporate or large hospitals that serve the needs of poor people in the area Rural, he added.
QPMPA has told that small and medium hospitals in rural areas will begin applying for vaccines from July 1.
“We also asked permission to provide a vaccine to all 18 years without priority and also to allow registration of place,” Paul P Noble, State Secretary, QPMPA.
