New Delhi: The Delhi Transportation Department will immediately issue a QR-based smart card for SIM and registration certificate, a statement from the Delhi government said on Tuesday.
That step, he said, was intended to make a “innovation hub in the government”.
According to the statement, the new SIM will have a sophisticated microchip with features such as fast response code (QR) and close field communication (NFC), and the new RC will have the owner’s name printed on the front while the microchip and QR code will be embedded in parts behind the card.
“The previous cards have embed chips, but there is a problem with reading the information encoded into the chip, the chip reader machine is not available in the required amount with Delhi traffic and the wing enforcement of the transportation department.” Moreover, chips are designed and implemented by the countries concerned, which results in difficulties in reading chips and retrieving information, especially in cases of absent, “said the statement, explained the need for an increase.
QR-based smart cards will allow unification in connecting and validating one’s information to smart cards with Sarathi and Vahan, two web-based databases of all driving licenses and vehicle registration, he added.
The QR code is also expected to have an additional advantage of acting as a “safety feature” on a smart card.
“The department will be able to maintain the notes and punishment holders DL for 10 years in the Vahan database immediately after the driver’s smart card / owner Conf iscated.
