Smart city funds are spent, but the lake remains dirty

Coimbatore: Only months after they opened to the public, five lakes rejuvenated and beautified at the cost of Rs 217.06 Crore from the mission of Smart City, has lost their charm due to lack of maintenance.
The commissioner of the Pandian Corporation has hastily inaugurated the part of the ukkadam periyakulam, Valankulamp, Lake Selvachhamni, and Selvampati Lake and Kumarasamy on February 26, hours before the model behavior model was charged for the selection of assemblies.
Then find the growing weeds threatening to take over the landscape in Periyakulam Bund.
Heta water water has clogged a floating pier, where the corporation has planned to launch a boat service.
Because no trash can, visitors throw waste along the bund.
Because only two open gates, people were found jumping over the fence.
Immoral elements were seen at Lake Valankulam, which was closed a few months ago to carry out maintenance.
They jumped over the fence to enter the place and were found to swim on the lake.
No security personnel are present to stop people like that.
The place turned into a nest of illegal activities at night.
The renovated lake was closed after Covid-19 cast cases in the district and reopened recently.
