Smart City SPV plans the Devpt 1 project after 5 years

Nagpur: More than five years after the city was selected under the mission of City Smart in 2016, the Special Purpose Vehicle Nagpur Municipal Corporation (SPV) – Nagpur Smart and Sustainable Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) – has begun the process of facilitating its first development project.
NSCDCL has drifted expressions of interest (EOI) for construction, operation and maintenance of multi-purpose multi-purpose (MMSDC) development centers in the City City region proposed in Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and Bandewadi in East Nagpur.
However, even basic infrastructure works like a road, water supply etc.
has not been completed in the area.
MMSDC has been planned on the land of 4.265 SQT in the Mouza plate.
The plan is to build a multi-store space to function together with a sophisticated training center.
However, NSCDCL does not have land.
The only silver layer is that SPV plans to get land at no cost.
A NSCDCL official told TII, “Land chosen for this project was reserved for MMSDC.
Our team managed to convince landowners to provide property under the land collection system.
We will develop land and save areas 40% with us and return 60% to the owner .
“as soon as the central government chose the city under the Smart city mission in September 2016, it was decided to change the mouza Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and BanDewadi into a smart city with an estimated cost RS3.577,77 crore.
Therefore, as a first step, NSSCDCL should provide basic services such as roads, drinking water supplies, waste, storm water channel systems, street lights etc.
In 2018, the SPV has appointed the company for 52km road construction along with utilities such as bridges, storm waterways, drinking water supply pipes, street lights, road dividers, pathways and utility channels to put the power cable, telecommunication optical fiber cable.
However, all of these works have not finished even on stretches 1 km in the last three years.
Likewise, working on a flat scheme for rehabilitation of the affected by the Project (PAPS) took place over the past three years, as well as the construction of four overhead water tanks.
BJP Corporator Pradip Pohane said, “City City project is a failure.
The work is ongoing slowly.
Even the acquisition of land has not been completed.
NSCDCL sells great dreams to people, but does nothing.
Because of the initial SPV, less than 7% of works It has been completed, which is very unfortunate.
Local public representatives are not part of the NSCDCL board, which also inhibits the proposed work.
“Of the total RS3,577.77 Crore, the central and state government should provide the confidence of the RS750 Crore and Nagpur trust is to contribute RS250 Crore.
Due to a very large delay, NSSCDCL has not received all funds.
