Kanpur: Initiative to ensure unbroken and better power supply for Kanpur residents and to save electricity, Smart City Corporation, Kanpur started a new project SCADA Power Supply (Data Supervision and Acquisition Control) on Friday.
Senior Administrative Officer, including the Division Commissioner Raj Shekhar visited the Power SCADA Project backup center in Iit-Kanpur where the new command and control room were being established.
Describing its features, the Division Commissioner, “Control of Supervisor and Data Acquisition (SCADA) is a control system architecture consisting of computers, network data communications and graphical user interfaces (GIS) for high process supervision management.
This is a special project launched By Smart City which will help Kanpur City to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to its citizens.
“This project will help in substantial reducing power consumption, making it effective and efficient operation, in addition to providing better maintenance on the power supply system.
The project also helps in data collection, analysis and system improvement, officials added.
“The total project budget is around RS 64 Crore.
Around Rs 44 Crore funded by Smart City, and RS 20 Crore funded by the Kanpur (Kesco) power supply company.
The project implementation agency is Kesco,” Commissioner said.
Developer is a GE company that will implement a project in 18 months and will also maintain a system for 5 years after project completion.
IIT-Kanpur is the main advisor for the implementation of the SCADA project.
“The agency has been asked to complete work on October 202,” he added.
About 20% of physical progress has been completed so far.
The Commissioner has also directed the Nodal City of Smart City, Keso, Iit-Kanpur and officials from the construction agency to sit together every week and accelerate progress.
