Pune: The city records a decrease in congestion levels at 29% by 2021 compared to the pre-covid period, increasing its ranking to 21 vis-a-vis places that are guaranteed in 2019, the Dutch location service company observes annually.

The TomTom annual traffic index compiled traffic trends in 404 cities in 58 countries throughout 2021.

Other Indian cities surveyed by TomTom were Bengaluru and New Delhi, ranked 10 and 11, respectively.
Data is collected by companies from devices embedded by GPS in more than 600 million vehicles globally.
The report sets the entire congestion level in Pune at 42%.
For Pune, 42% congestion implies that half an hour’s journey takes a total of 43 minutes to complete, an increase of more than 48 minutes in 2019.
