Snipers, drones are deployed in Srinagar before I-day

Srinagar: Towards the day of independence, snipers and drones have been deployed across Jammu and Kashmir to avoid bid terror and maintain supervision, police said.
Security personnel have been posted above the tall buildings while drones are used to keep the vigil on the road to the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Sonawar, the main place of the I-Day function where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will accept salute parades.
The authorities have issued a special ID Sans ID card that will not be allowed to move to the function place on Sunday.
IGP (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar said the security grid was tightened throughout Kashmir Valley as a precautionary measure to thwart the terror effort.
Checkpoints have been established in various locations in Srinagar – including Lal Chowk, Singh Street Day and Jehangir Chowk – where security forces randomly checked vehicles, especially two-wheeled, collecting commuters and checking their identity cards before allowing them to move forward.
Similar nights nights have also been arranged on the outskirts of the city to prevent terrorist infiltration.
A police officer said some sophisticated drones had been deployed in 2 Km-sensitive fingers such as Lal Chowk, Sonawar and Area side by side to keep air supervision near the main I-Day function.
“High-tech drones have also been pressed into the services of Anchar and the adjacent areas of SOURA Downtown, other than other parts of the city, to keep the closure close to the suspect and strengthen existing security grids,” he added.
Contrary to previous years, roads that lead to SD stadium on high security Sonawar remain open for civil movements during the day, before closing at night.
