New Delhi: Flanked by a busy artery like Aurobindo Marg and Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, Sanjay van is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of South Delhi with Flora, Fauna, and Waterbodies.
Delhi Development Authority plans to develop natural-public-private tourism places in this city forest.
Some of the South-Central Ridge, Sanjay van spread across 784 hectares, Qutub Minar and Mehrauli on the one hand and Vasant Kunj on the other.
Dda maintains this area as a city forest and now intends to develop natural tourism activities there with the aim of utilizing facilities for environmental and recreational awareness.
DDA has floated an expression of interest in the design, development, operation and maintenance of such projects in Sanjay Van under the PPP model.
The project document states that the basic idea is to create an economically sustainable system, utilizing the best local resources.
Project components can include identifying zones of scenery for natural-based tourism to provide space for activities such as rock climbing, paragliding, zip line, valley junction, Burmese Bridge Crossing courses.
The PPP model, DDA expects, will ensure optimal utilization of natural-based tourism infrastructure that will come through sustainable development and operating models while helping to polish society about environmental awareness.
Dda believes that the spread of knowledge about the environment will further improve the quality of city forests through community involvement in natural-based tourism activities.
Apart from adventure activities, soil authorities plan to bring people closer to nature through air, canopy tours, forest safari, forest recreation cycling, watch birds, guided natural tours, journey of flora and fauna observation, etc.
There are also plans to add activities such as walked walks, camping, picnic, and play areas with facilities for archery and staring at stars.
Separate activities from plans to make room for the hitch and exhibitions and festivals for the sustainability of the local tradition.
The city forest is quite popular for long streets, jogging, cycling, watching birds and for forest lanes to observe flora and fauna.
DDA has been encouraging for further development of facilities and areas of witnesses of education travel for school children, regardless of groups of nature lovers and bird observers visiting the area.
Authority believes that the main income source of eco-tourism facilities will include revenue from the proposed and operated activities by bidders, the public will be permitted to be used for daily recreational activities.
The expression of interest will determine the enthusiasm of applicants who have experience in creating natural-based tourism infrastructure or having the same background and also combining the best practices for the development and operation of these activities under the long-term concession model based on the long-term concession period.
