Social media ‘friend’ dupes man from RS 2 lakh

Letter: The 27-year-old textile unit owner was deceived by Rs 2 Lakh by a woman from Mumbai who developed friendship with him on social media and promised to marry her.
The police ordered Priyanka Jain aka Ankita Shah, a resident of Mira Road in Mumbai and Asfaq aka Javed Shaikh for allegedly deceiving Shanti Soreathiya, a special resident.
In his complaint, Soreathiya alleged that he met Jain for Facebook on August 2020.
They then shared their contact numbers and began talking and that he even began to attract his interest in marrying him.
Gradually, Jain began to start demanding money from Soreathiya quoting various expenditures including deposits for rent, the electricity bill he provided in a different amount.
Then, when he began to ask about marriage, the woman flatly refused.
