Software engineers fall prey to online fraud

Rajkot: Lure Looking for Partners on the online platform landed software engineers and the other three in trouble.
The four falls for online cheating fraud operated by gangs from Alwar in Rajasthan.
Rahul Parmar, a software engineer, told the police that he was in contact with a woman through an online dating application.
Parmar initiated a conversation through WhatsApp, but then it turned out that the female profile was fake and operated by four men.
After the initial message on WhatsApp, Parmar made a video call to the woman.
During a video call, the woman’s face was closed.
Meanwhile, people on the other hand call taking screens’ catches from video calls.
Then, Parmar’s face, recorded during video calls, changed and used in porn videos.
The video was then sent to Parmar and he was asked to pay Rs 5,000 through the payment application.
Initially, Parmar transferred Rs 2,000 and before he could send the remaining number, the four defendants were arrested by Rajasthan police.
The police identified four as Farooq MEV, Nahid Mev, Rahis Mev and Samayuddin Mev.
“Three other people have also been cheated by these four accused and we have taken their complaints too,” said Inspector M C Vala from the Cybercrime police station.
Three other victims were Parimal Lathigra, Ishit Patni and Subhash Ghodasar.
“The gang has around 60 members and they usually extort money from people living in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana and Tamil Nadu,” added Vala.
Police Rajkot will immediately take four custody accused of Alwar police.
