Bhagalpur: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved Intelligence (AI) software technology, which was developed by IIIT-Bhagalpur to detect Covid-19, TB and other severe chest infections at low cost and at less time.
ICMR has provided a nod to use it in hospitals and laboratories throughout the country.
Researchers at IIIT-Bhagalpur have begun working on projects after the wave of Covid-19 patients and delays in Covid testing since March, 2020.
Director of IIIT-Bhagalpur, Prof.
Arvind Choubey, led the research team.
He told this newspaper that the ‘COVZN software technology’ can read a scanned x-ray x-ray film and tomographic scanning (HRCT) which is calculated with high resolution (CT) uploaded to the computer in less than one second through the program software.
“The cost of diagnosis of Covid-19 infection will be less than RS100 through this software technology, compared to conventional microbiological swab tests today.
It will also save two-three days or even more in getting test results.
Covzn can detect tuberculosis and complicated chest disease others too.
“Chouborte, along with fellow Assistant Professor Sandip Raj, claimed that the ICMR and Union Minister of Health made a complicated trial before validating innovative technology, where a valuable life, where life, time and money in diagnosis of Covid-19 infection will be saved.
Previously, ICMR had formed a high-level advisory committee led by Dr.
Randeep Guleria (Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) and experts from the Scientific Council and Industry Research (CSIR) to explore the software ‘COVZN’ and suggest modalities for use it as soon as possible.
“Testing technology samples was carried out in the past recently in front of doctors and experts at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
And the hospital (JLNMCH) in Bhagalpur, Igims (Patna), AIIMS and RAM Manohar Lohia Hospital (Delhi).
The result is 94% -98% successful.
Their data shows the results of 98-100% in the correct diagnosis, “Choubey said.
