SRINAGAR: Police from the Police Special Operations Group J & K (SOG) and a terrorist Jaish-e-Mohammad killed in a sustainable meeting in the village of Pariwan in South Kulgam District Wednesday.
Three soldiers and two civilians were also injured in a shootout, police said.
Anti-terror operation was launched by a team with the Army Police, CRPF and J & K on Wednesday night based on specific input on the presence of terrorists in the area.
When security forces approached suspected hiding place, terrorists who hid bombarded bullets at the search party, triggered a meeting, said a police officer.
“In a shootout, SOG COP SGCT Rohit Chhib and a terrorist, was killed,” confirmed the IGP (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar.
The soldiers and civilians who were injured were rushed to the hospital, added IGP.
The meeting continued until the press.
