Gurgaon: Roads as high as 21 km-long increased, are being built for almost four years now, will be fully opened for commuter at the end of March this year, according to the National Highway Authority (NHAI).
12km-length stretch between badshapur and sohna, package 2 projects, almost ready and will be discarded this month.
However, package 1, which involves stretching 9 km which runs among Rajiv Chowk and Badshapur, will take a little longer, expected to be prepared at the end of March.
“The whole project is on the path that must be completed in March.
We hope to complete the 2-month package, and package 1 will be ready at the end of March.
Two parts of the relevant road are being built as a separate package, so we can open the stretch below Package 2 while still finishing working on package 1, “said a senior Nhai official who did not want to be named.
Nearly 95% of the work on Package 2 for Rs 606 Crore, and 75% of the work on the package 1 for RS 690 Crore is complete, the official connectivity is added between Rajiv Chowk and Sohnaa and allows people to avoid busy intersections throughout the stretch, including Vatika Chowk .
In addition, the relevant road is likely to reduce the current three hour trip between Gurgaon and Alwar for less than two hours.
The work on the project has begun in 2018, with a deadline for 25 months.
However, the project is delayed because of several complications in the utility shift, the pandemic lock and repeat construction prohibition through high levels of pollution.
In addition, the project was postponed due to an accident in August 2020 which involved the collapse of the 40m spine from the relevant path.
Furthermore, NHAI has suspended a job on stretching after learning that two package concession holders have violated safety norms and continuing development only after a month.
In September last year, road transportation and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari have stated the latest March 2022 deadline for projects when in Gurgaon for Delhi-Mumbai Expressway inspection, which is currently being built.
He then stated that the Sohna Highway will also be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai toll road that might be ready in 2023.
