Pune: Four understrials escape from sub-prisons in Madha in the Solapur Maharashtra district on Monday morning, one of them was arrested some time later, police said.
One of the escapees, was identified as Akbar Pawar, pretending that he had convulsions, because the prison staff opened the door to treat him, said a Madha police station official.
“Three other inmates in cells, Siddheshwar Kaiche, Akash Bhalekar and Tansaji Lokre, fled when the pawar was being treated.
When the prison staff ran after them, the pawar also fled,” he said.
The official, however, said the pawar had a seizure before, who needed hospitalization on two occasions, and, therefore, he managed to get prison staff to lower their guards while responding to his medical situation.
“Bhalekar was arrested later and tried to surpass three others.
The four had serious violations such as murder, fake currency and weapons ownership illegally on their names,” the official said.
