Srinagar: In the first attempt to reach the terrorist parents of Kashmiri, Head of the Army Lt of Gen DP Pandey and IGP (Kashmir Kashmir) Vijay Kumar on Tuesday visited the Southern Kashmir Shopman District to meet with local terrorist families and urged them to suggest their environment to cooperate and return to the mainstream for a better future.
Both officers interact with around 80 terrorist families active in Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopam District, and ensure that Reformed terrorists will be given all kinds of help as they avoid militancy and give up.
The family assured the officers that they would do their best to persuade their ward to put the arm.
Previously, at a press conference on July 31, Ltn Gen Pandey said there were around 200-225 active terrorists throughout the Union J & K area, most of them were locals.
Security forces have killed 89 ultras – including seven Pakistani citizens – so far this year, said IGP Kumar.
