LONDON: British hospitals, especially in London, struggled to maintain the level of staff because the amount to be isolated with Covid-19, said the senior emergency doctor on Thursday.
With a new Omicron variant which was very transmitting from a bumpy virus, England on Wednesday recorded the number of cases of the highest daily Coronavirus since the start of Pandemi, with infection 78,610 Covid-19 subsequently reported.
“Acute problems are actually related to staff,” Katherine Henderson, an emergency consultant in London and the President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, told BBC radio.
“Even if we don’t see a big hike in hospitalization, we’ve seen the effect don’t have the staff to run shifts correctly and safely.
So we worry about damage to patients who come because we don’t have staff..” Henderson said London was very hit.
“We see maybe around 10% of staff, namely doctors and nurses, who have to take off.”
