Panaji: With BJP in chaos to complete the candidate in the constituency of Cumbharjua and Santa Cruz, the list of the two candidates was postponed by another day.
This list is likely to be announced on Tuesday, said State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade.
BJP announced the first list of 34 candidates last week.
BJP has chosen three names in Santa Cruz – incumbent BJP MLA Antonio Fernandes, Chimbel ZP member of Girish Uskaikar, and near Panaji Mla Stanasio Monserrate ‘Babush’ Monserrate and former Taleigo Sarpanch Agneseha.
Monserrate was very encouraged to the nomination of Da Cunha, because he wanted to expand his base in Tiswadi Taluka.
A senior BJP official said that there were two names in Cumbharjua-sit MLA Pandurang Madkkaikar, and the Union Minister for Siddhesh’s son Shripad rose.
Third member, BJP Rohan Harmalkar, also hopes to secure a ticket.
With the delay announcing the second list, Madkkaikar said that he had started his campaign because all prospective candidates claimed that they would get party nominations.
“If I deny the party ticket, I will compete as an independent candidate.
My supporters have asked me to start the campaign, so I have launched it,” he said, stressed that the party had not told him that he would be rejected by his ticket.
BJP has stung a single name in three constituencies left by Bicholim, Cortalim, Curorim, and has two names in the Calangute constituency.
Recently, BJP cleared the name Bicholim MLA and Cave Speaker Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar as his candidate.
Previously, Patnekar showed reluctance to fight for elections on the health page.
A senior BJP official said that the meeting of the party parliamentary council was expected to take place on Tuesday to complete the names.
The last day for file nominations is January 28.
The leader also said that most of the names had been resolved but the constituency of Cumbharjua and Santa Cruz would be taken for discussion before the final decision.
For the first time, BJP has decided to oppose all 40 seat assembly.
