New Delhi: Some schools in the national capital are arranged to reopen for all classes from Monday after remaining 19 months due to Covid-19 pandemic, while many have chosen to delay week to week.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has announced last week that schools will be reopened for all classes from November 1, although teaching and learning will continue in blended mode.
DDMA also said that the school had to ensure that there were no more than 50 percent of the attendance in the class at one point in time and no students were forced to attend the physical class.
While the government school has reported more than 80 percent of attendance after they reopened in September for grade 9 to 12, private schools are in the process of sending approval forms to parents and most of them will decide on their actions plan.
MRG school, Rohini said it was “waiting for staff readiness” with both vaccination doses.
Modern public schools, Shalimar Bagh said they would be reopened after Diwali.
Other private schools that will be reopened after Diwali is a Public School of Dav, Pushpanjali Enclave, Indian School and Bal Bharti School, Pitampura, among others.
Allows only 50 percent of students per class, mandatory thermal screening, staggered lunch breaks, alternative seating arrangements and avoiding routine guest visits is among the guidelines announced by DDMA for the reopening of the school.
DDMA said students, teachers and non-teaching staff living in the Covid Detention Zone would not be allowed to come to schools and colleges.
It also said the areas used for activities such as the distribution of rations and vaccination must be separated from the area to be used for academic activities.
The schools in Delhi were ordered to be closed last year in March before the national lock to contain the spread of pandemics.
While some countries began to improve some schools in October last year, the Delhi government only allowed physical classes for class 9-12 in January this year, which was again suspended after an exponential increase in the second wave of aggressively.
After a real increase in the Covid-19 situation in the national capital, the Delhi government has announced the reopening of schools for grade 9 to 12, colleges and training institutions from September 1.
