Some GUJ areas see more than 100mm rain in a 12-hour period

Ahmedabad: Several parts of Gujarat accept very heavy rainfall on Sundays, removing normal life, with 12 talukas seeing more than 100 millimeters of rain in a 12-hour period ending at 6pm, officials said.
State Emergency Operations Center (SeoC) said Lodhika Taluka in Rajkot and Chhota Udepur Taluka in the district with the same name received 180 millimeters of rainfall, followed by 161 mm in Kwant Taluka in the Udepur Chhota, 142 in Kalavad in Jamnagar, and 129 on Kaprada Valsad.
It was said that the area in Botad, Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Aravalli and Gir Somnath also saw heavy rainfall during this period, added that 197 of the 251 talaskas of the country received rainfall.
Heavy rains in the city of Rajkot cause waterlogging in lowland areas, disrupting traffic and people’s discomfort, he added.

The state so far in this season received 195.3 mm rainfall against normal rainfall 319.2 mm, said IMD.
