Some HCW moved away from Jab after missing the second dose

Guwahati: After missing a deadline for the second dose of Covid vaccines in the state, several health care workers (HCWS) and FLW workers (FLW) are now reluctant to go for second shots during the new government drive for percent pen vaccination in the district.
Although it is considered a priority category for vaccination, they failed to get a second shot for full immunization.
Some of them said they made many rounds of the center of Jab but did not get their dose on time due to acute vaccine shortages.
The State Vaccination Office told the Toi that an estimated 2,18,540 health workers and 4,43,680 frontline workers were registered for Jabs.
From them 99% got the first shot of the Covid vaccine.
The extension of the gap between two doses over time also produces a delay and confusion in achieving percent percent vaccination for two categories, recognizing a health department official.
Combined with this lack of vaccines.
“We also have a busy work schedule but spend time going for our Jab.
There are no vaccines.
We are fed up,” said a health worker.
Responsible state vaccination, Munindra Nath Nattey, said on Tuesday, “While the second dose of Covaxin is scheduled between 28 and 42 days, some HCW and FLW have passed 80 days and still not vaccinated.
In the case of covishield, the second dose is due to 84 and 112 days, but some passed 150 days and missed a dose.
“Of the total registered HCW, 99% has been vaccinated with the first dose, while 80% have been inoculated with the second dose.
Among FLWS, 99% have been given the first dose, but the appropriate number for the second dose is 81%.
The health department official informed that there was no vaccine scarcity now.
Ngatey said all HCW and FLW workers can be vaccinated in just two months, provided they are advancing.
Ngatey said, “The second dose can be disbursed even if the due date has been missed.” But HCW and FLW were not convinced and had raised concerns about side effects in these cases.
More than two lakh people are vaccinated every day in the state in the past few days.
On Tuesday (until 7:30 p.m.), 2,27,590 doses were given.
Until now, 1,75,10,815 doses have been given.
Of these, 1,43,86,944 is the first dose.
But only 31,23,871 the second dose has been given.
Assam estimates 6.31 Crore populations over 18 years who are eligible to get the Covid vaccine.
