Dallas: Some of our leading airlines warned Thursday that the increase in Covid-19 cases because the Delta variant hurt their booking and further delayed recovery for the travel industry.
American Airlines said the slowdown which began in August continued until September, and the airline further reduced the prospects for third-quarter income.
In submission of other regulations, United Airlines said it flew and its income was weaker than previously thought, and it cut its schedule for the end of this year to match lower demand.
United estimate the losses before taxes in the third quarter which can extend to the fourth quarter if the virus outbreak continues.
Delta water lines say they still expect to post profits before tailored taxes for the third quarter, but income will go to the lower end of the previous estimate.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the increase in the Covid-19 case would not thwart the recovery of travel but would delay 90 to 120 days.
He said this variant has a very affected business and international travel, both of which are important for the largest US airline.
Southwest Airlines reported that the recreational trip had also weakened, with more cancellations and softer bookings for September and October.
However, Southwest said that the demand for Labor Day holidays was solid besides cancellations associated with Ida storms, and he said the ordering pattern for the winter holidays look normal.
The fourth stock of airlines fell 1% to 2% minutes after regular trade opened on Thursday.
