Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada has nearly 608 posts of empty teachers in a number of primary and secondary schools.
It has become a situation for several years, resulting in students who lose quality education.
It has forced Prakash Anchan, who heads the ‘Sarkari Shaale BELESTIAN’ (protecting and promoting government schools) to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking to fill all vacancies.
The post remains empty for several years, for unknown reasons.
“According to available data, 412 and 196 posts empty teaching in elementary and secondary schools in the district, respectively.
In addition, approximately 200 teachers are on the verge of retirement.” In his letter to the Prime Minister, Anchan highlighted that the number Students in government schools increase due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Some efforts have been made to empower government schools throughout the state.
For example, he quoted a government school in Daddalakadu on Bantwal, which was on the threshold of closing, with only 30 students, adopted by local youth clubs, and schools turned into a model one.
In less than five years, the strength of students has increased to more than a thousand.
Although student strength increases, there are no sufficient government teachers.
The Karnataka government has not filled a blank post.
“If the condition continues in the coming days, the government school will struggle to survive.
Students will be at the recipient’s tip,” he said in his letter.
Anchan further told TII, that this was the right time to improvise the government school system, because many students migrate from private schools to the government.
“The teacher’s transfer process in the district will be completed in a month.
We will ensure that no school in this district has a lack of teachers.
The faculty of the guest will be a representative in all schools with fewer teachers,” said Malleswamy, DDPI, Dakshina Kannada.
