Some schools reopened at Kathmandu Valley in the middle of a pandemic

Kathmandu: Some schools in Valley Kathmandu have been reopened after being closed for more than four months in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“A large number of schools in the Kathmandu district have been reopened on Friday according to the information I received in the morning,” Govinda Prasad Rijal, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, told the Xinhua news agency.

On Thursday, the District Administration Office issued a public notification that allowed the reopening of schools in the district based on the decision of the regional government, consulting with parents and by ensuring vaccination of teacher and other employees.
Rijal said all schools may not be reopened before the Dashain festival which starts from October 7.
“A number of schools support the reopening after the upcoming festival season ends,” he said.
Most of the schools in Kathmandu were not reopened on Friday as the capital city of the capital had not made a decision.
“We have not yet decided to reopen school in the city,” said a spokesman for Dangol to Xinhua.
“We have arranged stakeholder meetings for September 20 and based on scheduled meetings, we will decide whether to reopen the school.”
In fact, schools in Nepal have not run smoothly since Covid-19 hit the country at the beginning of 2020.
Although schools began to reopen at the end of 2020, they were closed again after the second wave of the virus hit April.
Earlier this month, the Kathmandu district, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu valley raised the key which was implemented since April 29, because new infections remained relatively low.
According to private school owners, the schools are expected to be opened gradually in the valley, but the majority of schools outside the valley have been reopened.
Matbang Puri, President of the Private Organization & Boarding School of Nepal, told Xinhua that most of the school in the valley unless those in the capital were reopened on Friday.
“Schools that ensure good access to online education can continue to be closed until the upcoming big festival, but other schools fail to ensure all online education students have been reopened,” he said.
Nepal reported 1,086 new infections and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours, took the total calculation of infection to 783,075 and the death toll became 11,012.
