ThiruvananThapuram: The government offers some neglect of costs to owners of electrical vehicles in the state, based on the policy of electricity in the state government, including 50% tax neglect for the first five years from the date of vehicle registration, the Transport Minister Antony Raju said in the Assembly on Wednesday.
Reply to submission by ET Taison Master, the minister said that after the government appointed the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) as the Nodal Agency to emerge with electric vehicle charging stations, as many as six charging stations have been arranged in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur .
26 again other charging stations will be arranged soon.
While conventional fuel vehicles have a one-time tax starting from 9% to 12%, for electric vehicles it has been set at 5% for electric motorcycles, electric cars, personal service vehicles and electric tricycles.
For electricity, taxes have been released for the first five years, and RS 30,000 subsidies are offered to the owner of an electric autorickshaw that has annual income to RS 3 Lakh, the Minister said.
As many as RS 12 Crore has been intended in a budget of 2021-22 to popularize electric vehicles in the state and the loan scheme has been institutionalized to offer loans to buy two-wheeled vehicles and three for those engaged in various jobs using electric vehicles, Antony said Raju.
As many as Rs 200 Crores are intended because it offers loans to buy 10,000 two-wheeled and 5,000 tricycles.
Some of the interest in this loan will be borne by the state government, he said.
In the capital city, 30 electricity authorically will be distributed through the Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation (KTDFC) as the KSRTC feeder service in the first phase, while the 500 autorickshaws will be distributed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode in the second phase.
Also, Kiifb has provided sanctions Rs 47.5 Crore to buy 50 electric buses for KSRTC to carry out services in the capital, the Minister said.
