Rajkot: Somnath Temple in the Gir Somnath District, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga from Shiva’s god, witnessed a heavy busy life during the Diwali vacation.
According to Temple Trust, in 10 days Diwali, 51.67 lakh people on Facebook, 22.26 lakh people on Twitter, 34.46 lakh people on YouTube, and 27 lakh people on Instagram offer prayer.
In fact, three lakh people visited the temple in ten days.
From November 1 to November 9, the temple received an income of Rs 1.35 Crore.
The average monthly income of temples including donations is around Rs 4.5 Crore.
The trust gets money from the lease of the guest house, Prasad distribution, parking fees, light tickets and voice shows etc.
Somnath’s temple was the first between the twelve Aadis Jyotirlingas in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the Chair of Somnath Temple Trust.
The existing temple, considered the seventh, built in the style of Kailas Mahameru Prasad and India’s first deputy prime minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is a pioneer.
It was designed by Prabhashankar Sompura who was remembered as a temple architect now.
