Bhubaneswar: BJD who came to power on Sunday continued his victory in the pipeline with party candidates, Rudra Pratap Maharathy, registered a big victory in the assembly constituency election in Puri District.
He won with margins around 20,916 votes.
BJP finished second, while Congress lost his deposit.
BJD secured 53.60% of the votes compared to 50.66% of the votes in the election of 2019 assembly even though the party’s president and the head of Minister Naveen Patnaik did not hit the campaign footprint.
On the other hand, some BJP heavyweight, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and National Spokesman Sambit Patra has carried out a roadshow in the pipeline for their candidates, Ashrit Pattasayak.
Rudra BJD won with a margin that was bigger than his father, Pradeep Maharathy, had in the 2019 poll (15,787 votes).
Last year’s pradeep death made the syllable needed.
It was an emotional moment for Maharathy’s Junior as a result was announced on the day which marked his father’s first death warning.
After the party’s victory, Naveen descended to Twitter to thank the people for supporting BJD and also congratulated the workers and leaders.
“BJD is your party and always dedicated to your service,” Minister of Chief Tweeted.
Rudra, postgraduate in management, also expressed their thanks to people and appealed them not to celebrate victory because of a pandemic.
Since the time the calculation starts the previous day, BJD maintains a comfortable advantage.
Even though Ashrit Pattasayak BJP gained the lead in several rounds towards the end of the FAG, he could not fight because the total margin of victory was great.
However, Pattasayak increased in his 2019 performance by securing 42.04% of the vote (76,056) compared to 41.62% of the votes (72,731) he had collected the last assembly poll.
The performance of the congress deteriorated in the pipeline with party candidates, Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra, barely fulfilled 4,261 votes, which contributed 2.36% of the total surveyed votes.
It is less than 5.63% of the votes guaranteed in the 2019 Assembly poll Maharathy and the electoral engine that was oiled by the powerful party helped BJD sail through it.
After the 2019 poll, this was the fourth biofetball victory from the powerful BJD.
While the election has determined the tone for Panchayat polls scheduled to be held early next year, some of Bypoll results have recently shown that Odisha will witness the two-way fight between BJD and BJP in the future with Congress no more in retaliation in some Western districts and religions -Balangir-coraput.
BJP President Samir Mohanty also thanked the Pelili people for vote more to the party compared to 2019 and said the party would work hard for the benefit of the People of Pipili.
The Suresh Roullay Congress leader accused the abuse of black money and machines by the powerful party to win the Bypoll.
