‘Sorry State Affairs’: SC Down Hard on Kerala Govt for Relaxation Locking

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has attracted the government of Kerala for relaxation on the Covid sidewalk, even when the country continues to record a high number of cases.
The APEX court said that the state government has requested traders to allow open stores.
It was even done in the zone that witnessed a 15% or more participant level, the court observed, called it “alarming and regretful circumstances.” The court warned that it would take action if sidewalk easing led to the spread of further viruses.
Kerala has relaxed locking rules for three days after the Bakrid festival which falls on July 21.

Shops besides those who sell important items have been permitted to function up to 8pm.

“We direct the government of the Kerala to heed the right to life that is enshrined by Article 21 of the Constitution,” Bench said.
SC, however, refused to provide punishment commands against state authorities to limit Covid to relax for three days.
The decision to relax the norms of locking was taken after the head of the Pinarayi Vijayan minister met with a representative of the trader’s body.
The traders have challenged the government that they will open a shop on Saturday and Sunday too.
