LONDON: Oxford University has appointed an academic professor from India Soumitra Dutta as the new Dean of the Saïd Business School.
Dutta, currently the Professor of Management in Cornell SC Johnson College of Business in Cornell University in New York, will take the new UK post on June 1.
“I am happy to join the Saïd Business School at Oxford University.
My daughter Sara graduated from Oxford and both my wife Lourdes and I spent half a year half a year useful at Oxford.
We both hope to be part of this diverse, attractive and innovative community,” Dutta said.
The university said the Dutta had a three-decade academic career that was famous behind him, including reduced today from the global business school network and 13 years in the role of leadership in France.
Dutta serves in the Registered Global Corporation Board, has established several successful start-ups, chaired together the global council forum global world forum on innovation ecosystems and creates the global technology index and major innovation.
He also acted as a senior advisor to the government about technology and innovation policies.
Dutta’s appointment followed the departure of Peter Tufano, who resigned after 10 years as Dean in June 2021.
Since then, Sue Dopson has led the school as a temporary dean.
“We are happy to welcome Professor Dutta to lead our school community.
He brought him the extent of the extraordinary global leadership experience,” Dopson said.
