PARIS: South African Olympic long jump silver medallist Luvo Manyonga was given a four-year prohibit after failing to fulfill’whereabouts’ standards, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) declared on Friday.
The AIU tweeted that its disciplinary tribunal had prohibited Manyonga to get”four years in December 23, 2020 to get whereabouts failures, his next breach of these @WorldAthletics anti-doping principles”.
Manyonga, world champion in 2017, finished second in the Rio Olympics in 2016, but may likely miss out the rescheduled Tokyo Games later this season.
Even the 30-year-old, the African record holder having a top of 8.65 yards, could appeal to the ban in the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Athletes should let police know their planned whereabouts to permit anti-doping officials to see them.
Should they don’t reveal or provide wrong information twice per year they are sometimes punished.
The AIU stated Manyonga missed an initial evaluation on November 26, 2019, and was subsequently overly imprecise on location specifics for others in 2020.
In 2012, Manyonga, additionally Commonwealth winner in 2018, has been banned for 18 months after testing positive for recreational drug crystal meth (methamphetamine).
