South Coast District TN receives heavy rain

Madurai: South Coast District Tamil Nadu – Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin – Receive heavy rain on Monday night.
But many places in the interior of the southern district do not receive rain.
But Madurai, Sivaganga and Tirunelveli, District administration stated holidays for schools and colleges on Tuesday due to rainforites.
District administration Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram stated holidays for school.
Chittar I (94 mm), Chittar II (92.2 mm) and Kannimar (81.2 mm) in Kanyakumari, Ottapidaram (90 mm) in Tuticorin and Sivagiri (82 mm) in Tenkasi District received heavy rainfall.
Kanyakumari recorded an average rainfall of 57.79 mm.
KALIAL (76.6 mm), Mylaudy (72.2 mm), Pechiparai (66.4 mm), Perkhani (58.6 mm), Kuzhithurai (57.8 mm), balamore (57.4 mm), Adyamadai ( 57.2 mm), Pukhen Dam (57.2 mm) and Surulacode (56.2 mm) is another station in the southernmost district that records rainfall of more than 50 mm.
Rain in the southernmost district left 13 broken huts.
Three houses including two in Agastheeswaram Taluk and one on calculated was fully damaged while the ten houses included five in Vilavancode, three in Agastheeswaram and two in Killiyor were partly damaged due to rain.
Many tanks in Kanyakumari continue to overflow and the Thamirabarani river is flooded.
The sea continues to be rude, making it difficult for fishermen to go fishing.
Tuticorin district recorded 30.85 mm rainfall with the highest ottapidaram recording (90 mm), followed by KovilPatti (53 mm).
Tirunelveli district recorded 26.5 mm rainfall with Pallayamkottai in the city of Tirunelveli recording 57 mm.
The city of Tirunelveli records 13.8 mm.
Tencasi is the only interior district in the south to record medium and heavy shower.
The district recorded an average rainfall of 42.96 mm with Sivagiri (82 mm) recorded the highest.
The Virudhunagar district recorded an average rainfall of 6.59 mm.
Rajapallayam (22 mm) and Srivilliputhur (12.8 mm) noted rainfall of more than 10 mm.
As many as 21 cottages were broken and a goat was killed in the rain in the Virudhunagar district.
While 19 cottages were partly damaged while two were completely damaged.
Madurai has an average rainfall of 0.55 mm.
Kallandiri (6.4 mm) is the only station to record more than 5 mm and 15 of the 20 stations in the district recorded zero rainfall.
The Dindigul district recorded an average rainfall of 2.28 mm with kodaikanal (8.3 mm) to the only station in the district to record more than 5 mm.
Theni Regency records an average rainfall of 9 mm.
Sivaganga district recorded an average rainfall of 1.63 mm.
The water level in the Dam Mullaseriyar rose to 138.65 feet from 138.45 feet on Monday.
The reservoir has 6,786 MCFT with an inflow of 2,428 cusecs and 1,867 cusec outflows.
The level in Vaigai Dam touched 68.41 feet from 67.63 feet on Monday, against full capacity of 71 feet.
The dam has 5,421 MCFT with 2,753 cusec and outflow 569 cusec inflows.
