Margao: With a second wave of pandemic now in Wane, the Covid South Goa District Hospital strengthens itself to anticipated the third wave.
And given that children tend to be vulnerable to the virus during the third wave, the South Goa District Hospital has focused on strengthening their children’s care facilities.
Apart from the new pediatric ward, six Neo Christmas care units have also been made in hospitals, Nodal officers Dr.
Rajesh Patil told reporters on Sunday.

Aside from being an intensive care unit (ICU) and intensive care unit (that), the five-bed dependency unit has been made near the victim’s ward equipped with a ventilator.
Critical patients who came to the hospital were first received in the high dependency unit where they were stabilized before shifting it to the ICU or that, thus preventing delays in care, patil said.
Facilities for providing dialysis treatments for kidney patients are also available at the hospital.
Patil said that the focus of the hospital has also provided post-covid care because the case of lung fibrosis post-covid infection has increased.
The post-covid Ayush Center has also been opened at the South Goa District Hospital where the Ayush doctor trains patients in breathing exercises, it was told.
Patil further said that hospitals have sent positive Covid patient swabs, especially from those who have severe infections, and those who have contracted infection even though they are fully vaccinated, for genome sequencing.
“Once we get a report, we will be able to determine which variant is circulating, and more serious, and thus the appropriate treatment will be given to the patient,” said Patil.
