Seoul: South Korea reported 1,842 new Coronavirus cases confirmed for 24 hours before – setting a new pandemic record for the second day in a row.
The cases announced on Thursday raised the total Caseload country to 184,103, with 2,063 deaths from Covid-19.
New cases include 270 sailors who recently flown home after a large-scale outbreak on the destroyers of those involved in the anti-piracy mission in East Africa.
South Korea has seen a surge in infection in recent weeks in the midst of a slow vaccination campaign, loose public alertness and the spread of more contagious Delta variants.
Kaseload daily the country has been above more than 1,000 for 16 consecutive days.
Health officials said they were discussing whether they would extend the toughest distance restrictions imposed in solid Seoul metropolitan areas.
