South Korea’s Aviation chief resigns over Girl’s death

SEOUL: South Korea’s aviation leader resigned Friday at the face of public anger over the death of a female master sergeant whose family says she killed herself after being mistreated by a male aide.
President Moon Jae-in’s office stated that he accepted the resignation of aviation Chief of Staff Gen.
Lee Seong-yong, who issued an announcement to reporters stating that he admits”heavy duty” within the girl’s passing.
Lee’s resignation came a day after the Defense Ministry reported an aviation master sergeant was detained on suspicion he had molested the girl in a vehicle in March while returning to their base following a supper meeting.
According to a presidential request filed with the girl’s household, she noted that the situation for her superiors but murdered herself in May when they attempted to cover up the episode and forced her to reach a private settlement with her own husband.
At Friday afternoon, over 340,000 people have signed the request, which required the punishment of aviation officials involved in almost any cover-up.
The general public anger prompted Moon to dictate the army on Thursday to conduct a comprehensive analysis on the way the air pressure managed the situation.
South Korea’s military has been criticized because of its failures to safeguard feminine soldiers and officials from sexual violence and harassment.
Back in 2017, a female police officer murdered herself after being raped by a senior officer, who afterwards has been sentenced to 15 years .
At 2013, a feminine military officer killed himself after being plagued by a man superior who forced her to have sexual intercourse with him.
