Chennai: Southern Railway will focus more on safety, track updates and doubling lines to run more trains without delay because there is an increase in funds allocated for this work in a budget of 2022-23.
The manager General of the South Railway Ak Agarwal said the RS 2,400 Crore has been allocated for work related to safety which is the highest in the last three years, RS 1,400CR for track updates that have left behind and Rs 1,445.85 Crore to double the more parts Large will be spent to double Madurai-Maniyachi-Tuticorin (RS 300CR) and Maniyachi-Nagercil (RS 425 Crore) and the fourth row of the beach-eGmore (RS 54.2CR).
The zone will also get Rs 346.80 Crore for conversion gauges, which is a 94% increase compared to last year.
The funds allocated to convert gauges including trichy-nagore-kara with the expansion of Velankanni-Thiruthuraipondi (Rs 121.80 Crore), Madurai-Bodinahurur (RS 125Crore), Cuddalore-Salem-Vridhachalam (RS 15 Crore), Mayiladuthurai-Tiruvarur-Karaikudi and Tiruturaipi AgasthyaMalai (RS 75 CR) and Kollam-Tirunelveli-Tiruchendur and Tenkasi-Virudhunagar (Rs 10 Crore).
This zone will also receive RS 327.77 Crore, an increase of 45.9% from last year, and RS 244 Crore for Footbridges and platform replacement.
He said that the zone received a total allocation of RS 3865 Crore this year as against 2,972 crores for projects in Tamil Nadu.
This includes Rs.303.42 Crores for electrification.
Working work for 25 new line / gauge conversion projects for RS 28.307 Crore more than 3,077 km in the state.
