Lucknow: To protest the Apathy of BJP in power to sports and sportsmen, the Jamajwadi Party on Sunday held a sit-in ‘Khiladi Ghera’ at the district headquarters in all states on the occasion of national sports days held every year in the memory of the Dhyan Chand hockey legend on a birthday His birth.
As part of the party sit-in conducted a discussion with senior and national level training at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Jhansi.
Party leaders interact with sportsmen and beginner players who air complaints such as lack of infrastructure and other facilities at the stadium.
The players also aired their worries on the way the hostel facility was closed during the Covid-19 locking, but it hasn’t started again in a full throttle in various sports hostels.
In Lucknow, the SP National President Akhilesh targets the BJP government to ignore sports and young players too.
“There is hatred among a sportsman of the way BJP in power has treated sports and sportsmen.
During the SP regime the government received a world-class stadium built in Lucknow.
The stadium was also built in several other districts to encourage sportsmen and offer better facilities for beginner players, “Akhilesh said.
The former CM rose attacking BJP in power because he did not pay attention to the needs of sportsmen.
Apart from Jhansi, ‘Khiladi Ghera’ was also held at Lucknow, at Bhamashah Stadium in Meerut, Vishwaharsh Kisan Pg College in Park Basti and Prabhu in KasGanj.
