Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party on Monday was pitted by Subhavati Shukla, wife of former Vice President of BJP late Upendra Dutt Shukla, as a party candidate against the Minister of Yogi Adyityath from the Gorakhpur (urban) seat.
Overall, the SP released the name 24 candidates on Monday.
In the caste equation, the party has reduced six Brahmins, two Thakurs, two Muslims, one Bhumihar, nine OBC, including three Yadav, and three Dalits.
Subhavati Shukla officially joined the Jamajwadi Party on January 20 to cancel speculation that she would be a party choice to take yogi.
Her husband upendra Dutt Shukla, the famous Brahmana face in Purvanchal, has lost Lok Sabha by-election from Gorakhpur in 2018 when the seats emptied by Yogi.
Shukla died in May 2020 after being sick.
Pravin Nishad, son of the head of the party Nishad Sanjay Nishad, who was contested on the Ticket of the Jamajwadi Party and won the Bypoll.
The Nishad party is now a BJP and Pravin alliance partner is the BJP MP from Khalilabad.
The source said at first the Shukla family was interested in fighting from a seat with BJP tickets.
However, on January 17, the party completed the name Yogi Adityanath as a candidate from Gorakhpur Urban.
Three days later, Subhavati officially joined SP.
The SP poll strategy believes that Subhavati will get selector sympathy because the family is rejected by tickets.
In addition, the caste equation is expected to support it.
The party has also reduced former Minister of Narad Rai from Ballia (Urban) to face BJP Vice President Shanker Singh which tends to be declared on Sunday.
The name Akhilesh Yadav as a candidate from the Mubarakpur miracle constituency in Azamgarh created a flutter in the political circle until it was confirmed that the individual was the name SP National President.

All three have joined SP in the past.
The party has also lowered Kisman Dixit, which has been associated with SP through the frontical organization Yuvjan Sabha and Hails from the family of the priests related to Mahado Mahado Mahado Temple in Kashi.
