Lucknow: In another punch to the Samajwadi party ahead of the poll, Shiv Kumar Beria, who was a minister at the Government of Akhilesh Yadav, joined BJP on Monday.
Considered close to Akhilesh Uncle Shivpal Yadav, Beria had become MLA five times.
In 2012, he won from the Rasulabad reserve seat (Rural Kanpur).
In 2017, he was rejected by a ticket by Akhilesh, who controlled the full party after cracking in the Yadav family appeared right before the election.
He then joined PSP (L) after Shivpal shaped it after the 2017 poll.
