Prasagraj: The leader of the Jamajwadi Party (SP) on Friday accused the local police and administration to harass party candidates, the proposers and their supporters and force them to roll back their nominations.
The delegation of party leaders and workers also met with election observers and demanded a free and fair Pramukh poll in 23 district blocks.
SP District President Yogesh Chandra Yadav accused, “Forced BJP men occupy the majority certificate of members of Kshetra Panchayat and Panchayat members are forced to choose the sake of BJP candidates.” He further demanded that the Election Commission (EC) must allow Aadhaar cards as an alternative to Kshetra Panchayat members to identify for free and fair polls.
They say that Panchayat members must be allowed to give their voices after showing their aadhaar card.
Yadav, meanwhile, the allegation that local police and administration on the orders of the state government harassed party candidates, their proposers and supporters forced them to restore their nomination on Friday.
He also accused the Soroon police team on Thursday night to pick up many party leaders including husbands from party candidates and took them to the police station for no reason.

SP leaders demanded that adequate police forces must be deployed in the Shringverpur block with a claim that BJP candidates from the same block were influential people and their presence could have an impact on voters.

Senior police and administrative officials on Friday review security settings at the Office of the Development Office in 22 blocks.
