Bengaluru: The Indian Chandrauran-2 spacecraft has completed more than 9,000 orbits around the moon, and the imaging and scientific instruments on the boat have provided excellent data, officials said on Monday.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) held a Lunar Science 2021 workshop, which began on Monday, to commemorate the completion of two years of operating the Chandrauran-2 spacecraft around the lunar orbit.
In its inaugural address, the Chair of the ISRO, K Sivan said the eight cargo on the Chandrauran-2 spacecraft was conducting remote sensing and in-situ observations with a height of 100 km from the lunar surface.
“Until now, Chandrauran-2 has completed more than 9,000 orbits around the moon,” added Sivan, also the secretary in the Department of Space (DOS).
According to Bengaluru based Isro, data and science documents are released by Sivan, along with data from the Chandraya-2 Orbiter charge.
“Science data is being made available for analysis by academics and institutions, for greater participation to issue more science from Chandraya-2 missions,” Isro said.
Sivan said he had reviewed the results of science, and found them to be “very encouraging”.
The Chairperson of the Apex Science Council, ISRO, A Kiran Kumar said imaging and scientific instruments on the Chandrauran-2 satellite ship had provided very good data.
“Chandrauran-2 has actually included many new features in his instruments that took observations carried out on Chandrayaan-1 to a newer and higher level,” added Kiran Kumar, former ISRO chairman.
Director of the Chandrauran-2 project, Vanitha M, said all sub-systems are performing well performed.
“We hope we can get good data from spacecraft for years,” he said.
Vanitha said the charge of the Orbiter Imager – TMC-2 (Medan-2 mapping camera), Iir (IR imaging of the spectrometer) and OHRC (high resolution camera orbiters) have sent us pictures of the moon.
The two-day workshop, organized by ISRO, is being broadcast live on the space body website and Facebook page, to effectively reach students, academics and institutes, and to involve the scientific community to analyze the data of Chandrauran-2, an ISRO statement, a statement ISRO statement is said.
Science results from eight charges are presented by scientists in a virtual workshop.
In addition, there will be lectures on the Chandraya-2 mission, tracking, operation, and aspects of archive data.
Together with scientists from ISRO / DOS, there will also be lectures on the science of language that will be delivered by scientists from the Institute of Education and Research in Indian Science, Kolkata, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and Indian Technology Institute, Rookee, Rookee.
